Doughnuts are a traditional carnival pastry. These well endowed and sweet gentlemen came to us from Germany and became irreplaceable. They are associated with many traditions. There are many sorts of doughnuts known across the world. Their origin goes back into the times when people started baking bread. Dough that was formed into buns was cooked in England with soup and fried in oil in Germany. Those were the early versions of now world famous doughnuts. The Dutch added later the powder sugar sprinkle and from there they spread in that form to northern America.
